Two general sessions, each with a keynote speaker
Catia Bastioli After graduating in Pure Chemistry in 1981 at the University of Perugia where she obtained top marks, she then attended the school of Business Administration at the Milan Bocconi University. Initially Project Leader at Montedison for the Strategic Composite Materials Project, then Project Manager for "Biodegradable Materials from Renewable Sources" at the Ferruzzi Research and Technology Center, Ms Bastioli entered Novamont in 1991 as a Director, becoming Technical Director in 1993, and then Managing Director in 1996. Today she is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Catia Bastioli sits on various prestigious committees and associations such as ERRMA (European Renewable Resources & Materials Association), ECCP (European Climate Change Program), she is a member of the Board Directory of PlasticsEurope and AGRINNOVA (Center of Competence on Agro-food Innovation). She was recently elected President of Assoscai, Italy’s Association for the Environmental Sustainability and Competitiveness of Enterprises. Since 2004 she has been a lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy/Biotechnology, at the "Amedeo Avogadro” University of Eastern Piedmont. Author of more than 100 papers on various scientific and industrial subjects published in International Journals, she has also contributed to international reports dealing with renewable materials on behalf of leading institutional organizations. She is the author of the “Handbook of Biodegradable Polymers”, published by Rapra Technology Limited in 2005. Ms Bastioli is the inventor of more than 70 patents and patent applications in the sectors of synthetic and natural polymers. The patents in the sector of starch-based materials are a significant part of the Novamont patent portfolio. Catia Bastioli has won numerous international awards for her discoveries in the field of starch-based biodegradable materials; one of them, on April 18, she has been nominated for the “European Inventor of the Year 2007” for her patents filed in the years 1992-2001. On July 4, 2008, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural and Physical Sciences of the University of Genoa granted her an ‘Onoris Causa’ degree in Industrial Chemistry. Dal 2004 è Professore Incaricato presso la Facoltà di Farmacia / Biotecnologie dell’Università del Piemonte Orientale “Amedeo Avogadro” E’ autrice di più di 100 articoli di carattere scientifico e divulgativo pubblicati su riviste internazionali, ha anche contribuito alla stesura di rapporti internazionali sulle materie rinnovabili per conto di grandi organizzazioni istituzionali. Ha curato l’edizione dell’ “Handbook of Biodegradabile Polymers” pubblicato da Rapra Technology Limited nel 2005. 70 tra i brevetti e domande di brevetto depositati nei settori dei polimeri sintetici e naturali. I brevetti nel settore dei materiali e base di amido sono una parte significativa del portafoglio brevettuale di Novamont. Numerosi sono i premi internazionali per le sue scoperte sui materiali biodegradabili a base di amido, tra i quali la nomina, il 18 aprile 2007, a “Inventore Europeo dell’anno 2007” per i suoi brevetti depositati negli anni 1992br>-2001. Presentation (pdf) Fabio De' Longhi Fabio De' Longhi was born in Treviso in 1967 and holds a degree in Business and Economics from the Bocconi University of Milan. He joined the company, founded by his father Giuseppe De’ Longhi, as assistant to the marketing director of the United Kingdom Branch until the early 1990's, when he entered the Export Department at the company headquarters in Italy.He worked for some years in the United States as Marketing and Sales Director and went back to the headquarter in 1999 as Sales Director and Vice President of the De’ Longhi Group. In 2005 he became the Chief Executive Officer of the De’ Longhi Group. De’ Longhi Group is leader in household appliances with two business units, De’ Longhi Household and De’ Longhi Professional, operating in four product segments: Air Conditioning, Heating, Cooking and Small Domestic Appliances. Brands are De’ Longhi, Kenwood e Climaveneta. Manufacturing sites are located in Italy, China and Russia and the Goup exports in over 80 countries. De’ Longhi Group revenues in 2007 have been 1.500 million Euro, with no. 7.000 employees worldwide. The De’ Longhi Group is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange. Fabio De' Longhi Fabio De' Longhi nasce a Treviso nel 1967. Si Laurea in Economia e Commercio ad indirizzo aziendale presso l'Università Bocconi e dopo gli studi entra in azienda in qualità di assistente del direttore marketing della filiale inglese. Dopo un breve periodo di apprendistato rientra inItalia ed opera all'interno della direzione commerciale export;successivamente si trasferisce negli Stati Uniti, dove dapprima lavora in qualità di direttore marketing per poi assumere il ruolo di direttore commerciale. Rientrato in Italia assume la direzione commerciale e marketing e la Vicepresidenza del Gruppo. Dal 2005 è Amministratore Delegato del Gruppo de' Longhi. De’ Longhi è un’azienda Leader nel settore dell’elettrodomestico che opera attraverso due divisioni di business - De’ Longhi Household e De’ Longhi Professional - in quattro segmenti di prodotto: Air Conditioning, Heating, Cooking e Small Domestic Appliances. Tre sono i marchi principali con i quali il Gruppo opera: De’ Longhi, Kenwood e Climaveneta. Il Gruppo fattura circa 1.500 milioni di Euro (dato 2007) e impiega circa 7000 dipendenti nel mondo.
